By not using the system and by not saving any new files, it makes recovering deleted information much easier and more probable.
Where Have My Deleted Files Gone?
To make this simple, files or data that has been deleted is removed from view until the section of the hard drive which that data was occupying is used by some other data. In other words, it's still in the same place and using the same space, but you just can't link to it or get to it without specialist tools or software. The "only way" to delete that data is to save new data to that space. This can't be deliberately done because saved data is put in various areas of a disk, but to avoid losing data you want to get back, it's best to stop using the computer just in case new data chooses to save over the data you want to get back. Once the deleted data has been over-written by new data, it's nearly impossible to get it back.

- Deleted Music Store
customer had deleted a large music store but it hadn't gone into Recycle Bin. We removed their hard drive, scanned their system with our specialist software and isolated deleted music files. Once found, we recovered them to the original location - Hard Drive Controller Board Burned Out
Customer had a hard drive which had shorted itself and had burned out a chip on the circuit board and so we had to find a replacement board for that hard drive as well as find the correct firmware.
